IDLE AND DISORDERLY

REMAND FOR A WEEK Though he pleaded guilty to being idle and disorderly, with insufficient means of support, John Patrick Keown excused himself at the Police Court today by saying that he had been out of work for three weeks. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said that Keown, who was a fireman, aged 32, had been before the Court previously.

“At 10 o’clock last evening a constable’s suspicions were aroused when he saw Keown trying the doors of parked motor-cars,” said the subinspector. Accused then climbed into the back seat of a car and when approached by the constable, admitted that he had no right there. “He evidently wanted to doss,” said the sub-inspector.

“What do you think about it?” the magistrate asked Staff Captain Holmes.

“I would like to have him remanded for a week to get the drink out of his system,” said the staff captain. Mr. Hunt accordingly remanded accused until September 2.
