MT. ALBERT OLD BOYS
REUNION AND SMOKE CONCERT Nearly 400 old boys of the Mount Albert Grammar School were present at a reunion and smoke concert held in the school assembly hall on Saturday evening. The old boys and visitors were welcomed by Mr. V. C. Butler, president of the association who, while reading apologies from members unable to attend, expressed his gratification that there was such a large number present. This was the most successful reunion they had had. "I hope these reunions will continue in the way they have started," said Mr. F. W. Gamble, headmaster. He referred to the fact that of the 11 masters who wero on the original staff in 1922, 10 were still at the school. Messrs. V. C. Butler and J. Jenkin, who were among the first pupils, were now on the teaching staff.
The guests included the headmaster, Mr. Gamble, Mr. Ward Baker, of the board of governors, and Messrs. King and Prust Stewart from the Auckland Grammar School Old Boys* Association.
The toast, “The School,” was proposed by Mr. Butler, and replied to by the headmaster. That of the “Auckland Grammar Old Boys’ Association” was proposed by Mr. Robertson and replied to by Messrs. Stewart and King. The toast “Absent Old Bovs” was proposed by Mr. E. A. Bell. The old boys had been circularised and all who could not attend bought tickets. A roll of these absentees was called Tli© musical items given were ■ Mr. Carder, flute solo: Mr. Calder song: Mr. Winthrop, clarinet solo: Mr’ Vaughan, recitation. Master Harvey, a pupil of the school, gave a mouthorgan solo.
