FOOTBALL INJURIES
AMBULANCE MEN BUSY NONE SERIOUSLY HURT The St. Johu Ambulance Brigade was in attendance on Saturday at all football grounds, and was called on to give first aid or to supply transport for injured players who had to be taken to the hospital. No serious injuries are reported. Stanley Downs, agtd 17, of 6 Waitemata Street, Ponsonby, was taken to hospital suffering from concussion. His injury was received while he was playing for Grafton against Technical Old Boys, at Grey Lynn Park. Several players in the Auckland representative team which played New Zealand representatives at League at Carlaw Park, were slightly injured. Philip Brady, aged 23, of Huia Street, Otahuhu, was taken to the Auckland Hospital suffering from concussion. Riley received temporary concussion; Carter had an arm injured, Perry suffered an ankle injury, and Watene, who was in the New Zealand team, left the field with a strained ankle. In a League game at the Domain, J. Smith, of 27 Remuera Road, received a dislocation and fracture of the left elbow. After treatment at the Auckland Hospital, he was able to proceed home. While playing at Penrose, C. Kenworthy, of Station Road, Penrose, suffered head injuries, and was taken to the Auckland Hospital, but it was found unnecessary to detain him.
While playing in a Peace Cup fixture for Morrinsville against Hamilton at Hamilton on Saturday, Leslie Woodley, of Tatuanui, the fullback, had his left collarbone broken. In the representative third grade match at Te Aroha between Te Aroha and Morrinsville, F. Carter, of Morrisnville, broke his right forearm.
