ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

TE KUITI-HAMILTON The Main Highways Board has undertaken the maintenance o£ the Otorohanga County’s section of the Te Kuiti-Hamilton highway. The Public Works engineer in charge of operations in Te Kuiti has placed a new long-blade grader on the road. The narrowness of the road has caused a little inconvenience with the wideblade grader, but to meet the trouble the length of the rear blade of this machine was reduced by 18 inches before it was placed on the road. This type of machine should effect very great improvements, and. that there may be no undue danger, the department has erected warning notices on either end of the length of road which is under repair. The Auckland Automobile Association. which investigated complaints made by motorists regarding the alleged danger of the grader, is requesting motorists to drive carefully over this section of the road, pending improvements which will obviate any risk.
