CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
NEXT SATURDAY’S EVENT Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The New Zealand Harriers’ crosscountry championships are down for decision on Saturday next. These will be held over the 10,000 metres course at Lower Hutt, one of the finest in the country. The teams for the championships have been selected and prominent among them are R. A. Rose (Wanga-nui-Taranaki), P. H. Fi'ancis, a former English champion with a high reputation, and A. L. Stevens (Wellington), who has registered fine performances this season. J. W. Savidan (Auckland), who won the New Zealand championship three years in succession, will be a notable absentee, as he is in Canada with the Empire Games team. ' Wellington holds the teams championship' and will be represented by the following team: —A. L. Stevens (Scottish), P. H. Francis. A. A. Barclay (Brooklyn), C. McCarthy (Hutt Valley), L. Watson (Wellington), L. Sinclair (Scottish). Emergencies: J. Shepherd (Wellington) and F. B. Silver (Scottish).
