“OLD BILL”

Sir, — For the last 20 years a number of my friends have taken particular notice of that old oak tree that stands at the corner of Symonds Street opposite St. Paul’s Church. Regularly every year it comes intc leaf fully a month before the others and is fully a month later in casting its leaf in the autumn. It has a great scar on its trunk which should be attended to, so that the old .tree can keep up its record and remain a source of joy and Admiration to all tree lovers. RAKAU.
