“MAKING WHOOPEE”

Sir, — I read the letter of “Old Salt” in last evening’s Sun and while I agree with him that it is “exceedingly strange” that there should be so much talk of uncharted seas along a recognised trade route, I fail to see that it is any of our business whether San Francisco gives a rousing reception to the captain of the Ventura or otherwise. He is a good fellow and has done his work well and if the Americans desire to make whoopee in his honour, let them do so and good luck to ’em. PYGMALION
