BRIDE ATTENDED BY SIX MAIDS IN SUNSHINE YELLOW

INTERESTING TIMARU WEDDING WHITE—ELWORTHY St. Mary’s Church, Timaru. was beautifully decorated with pale green foliage and masses of golden daffodils and jonquils for a marriage on Thursday of wide interest. The bride was Rona, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Elworthy, of Craigmore, Timaru, and she was married to Alen Paterick, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Kinross White, of Omarunui. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. H. W, Monaghan, assisted by the Rev. J. Hay. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a simple and graceful bridal gown of deep cream velvet fashioned with a close-fitting bodice finished at the waistline with a girdle of meshed pearls which was caught in front wtih two long tassels. Her sleeves were long and tight and came to a point at the wrists. The fullflared skirt, which formed a short train, fell in soft folds to the ground and over this fell a long train of ivory and gold faconne embossed with ivory chenille and lined with gold tissue. A beautiful veil of embroidered net, which belonged to her grandmother, was arranged on the head with a Juliet cap of pearls and she carried a sheaf of freesias. She was attended by six bridesmaids. Misses Cecil, Elizabeth and Josephine Elworthy (sisters of the bride), Miss Nancy Bond (cousin of the bride). Miss Hilda Montgomerie (Little and Miss Margery Gibson, who wore medieval frocks o-f sunshine yellow panne velvet. The bodices and sleeves were close fitting and the long full skirts touched the ground all round. The frocks were finished with medici collars of gold lace. They wore juliet caps of gold pearls and carried Victorian posies of primroses end daffodils. The duties of best man were carrier] out by Mr. Ewan Campbell, of Horonui, and IA eu tenant J. Elworthy, Messrs. H. Elworthy, R. Bethal (Waikari), B. Blundell (Wellington) and P. Borthwick (Christchurch) were groomsmen. The ushers were Messrs. P. Boyle, F. O’Rorke and B. Thomas. A reception was held later at Craigmore, where guests from various parts of the North Island, Dunedin, Christchurch and South Canterbury were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Elworthy.
