TWO HOUSES BURNED
BLAZE AT SEASIDE MOTORISTS SEE GLARE Press Association DARGAVILLE, Today. Late last night a fire at Bayly’s Gorge, a seaside resort some seven miles from Dargaville, destroyed two houses, the property of Mrs. John Finlayson and Mr. Samuel Barker. The glare was noticed in town by motorists who had been attending a meeting. They went out and found Mrs. Finlayson’s house well ablaze and Mr. Barker’s partially alight. Part of the contents of the latter was saved, but both houses, owing to lack of water supplies, are a total loss. Adjoining houses, although scorched, were not damaged. The insurance on each house was £ 200, held in the Alliance and Commercial Union Offices respectively.
