HABEAS CORPUS SUIT
JUDGE’S DECISION HELD UP The application for a writ of habeas corpus made by Cecil Hazlett. the wealthy North Taieri farmer, who claims to have been committed to the Roto Roa island inebriates’ home without a proper hearing, was mentioned by Mr. Justice Smith in the Supreme Court this morning. His Honour stated that he had not yet had time to prepare his judgment, and as he was leaving shortly for Hamilton, some time elapse before he could issue his decision. At the request of counsel, Mr. J. J. Sullivan, Hazlettt was granted an extension of the term of his bail until September 6,
