ROXY
TWO BRITISH TALKIES Provided that the British producers continue to make talkies after the manner ol' “Blackmail” and “Atlantic,” Hollywood will have to look to its laurels. The latest British all-talking production to come before the notice of Auckland audiences is “The Hate # Ship,” at the Roxy Theatre. The action of the play is so timed as to leave the audience in doubt as to the actual trend of the plot until the end is in view, which is the mission of all good dramas, but a mission which few achieve. The comedy is good, and the theme song, as sung by Miss Jean Colin, the leading lady, is one of the most haunting trifles which the talkies have featured. “Harmony Heaven,” the second big attraction on the same programme, is another British picture. It is an allcolour show, and may also be called an all-singing and dancing production. Polly Ward of the London vaudeville stage heads the cast.
