ST. JAMES

“SALLY” Beautiful and colourful settings, some of them among the most costly ever built for a motion picture, provide the backgrounds for Marilyn Miller s first picture, '‘Sally,” at the St. James Theatre. The picture is made entirely in natural colour by the technicolour process, and is described as a dazzling production with gorgeous ballets and dancing ensembles, lilting melodies, comedy and romance.

“Sally” as a stage play was one of the prettiest of the musical comedies in the history of the stage. As a picture its beauty exceeds even that of the stage version, for the screen allows a much greater latitude in spectacular settings and effects. On the stage “Sally” was Marilyn Miller’s greatest success; on the screen it ( has already established her as a star of the first magnitude.

The supporting programme of short talkies is both varied and interesting.
