MOTORS BY TRAIN
CHEAPER ROTORUA RATES By offering a reduction of 50 per cent, in the ordinary freight charge for motor-cars, accompanied by not fewer than two passengers, between Auckland or Newmarket and Rotorua, the Railway Department hopes to secure a substantial portion o * the private car traffic between th~“<* two points. The journey by road from Auckland to Rotorua is a long one, and there are doubtless many motorists who will welcome the opportunity to have their cars conveyed cheaply by rail to their destination, thereby avoiding He strain of road travel. The new “Rotorua Limited” expresses, which provide a fast dailyservice between Auckland and Rotorua, will prove a big factor in assisting the Railway Department to improve its passenger figures on this line. These trains attain a higher standard of comfort than has been provided hitherto in the Dominion, and compare favourably with the best in any uart of the world.
