Air. J. Baxter, manager, and Air. F. Prentice, captain of the team, mad© happy responses. AUCKLAND TOURISTS WIN MATCH WITH MANAWHENUA Press Association PALMERSTON X., Wednesday. There was a large attendance at the Showground today to witness the match between the A uckland touring Rugby team and Manawhenua, The visitors won by 21 points to 12 after a fast, open contest. It was confidently anticipated that Auckland would be much too good for the home side, but the latter, although defeated, fought magnificently. The Manawhenua pack was superior during the greater part of the game and dominated the second spell. However, the visiting backs were faster and made more of their opportunities than the local backs. Scorers for Auckland «*were Jones (two tries), Jamieson, Haslam and Solomon (one each). Berriclge converted two tries and Corner one. For Manawhenua. K. Fitzgerald scored twice and Fletcher onc£, while Roddick kicked a goal from a mark. RUGBY AT FIJI UNIVERSITY WINS SUVA, Wednesday. In a Rugby football match today Auckland University beat P’iji’s second fifteen by 32 points to 0. Hely scored five successive tries, and Boswell, Clarke and Stotter one try each. Jackson converted four. The visitors outclassed the local players in all departments of the game.
