SEMI-FINALS AT MELBOURNE RYAN BEATS WHITTON MELBOURNE, Wednesday. In the first semi-final of the Victorian amateur golf championship today the Australian open golf champion, Ivo Whitton, was defeated by the national amateur champion, M. J. Ryan, 7 up and 6. Len Xettlefold, twice amateur champion, defeated W. A. Edgar, 5 up and 3, in the second semi-final. Ryan and Xettlefold will play in the final tomorrow.
