BRIDE IN IVORY GEORGETTE WITH TOUCHES OF GOLD
HAYES—SKINNER At St. Matthew's Church on Monday afternoon the marriage was celebrated of Miss Elva Skinner, only daughter of Mrs. H. Butler, of Henderson, and Mr. Paul Hayes, second son of Mrs. G. Webb, of Wynyard Street, City. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Jasper Calder. Given away by Mr. Stanley Shepherd, of Devonport, the bride wore an ankle-length frock of ivory georgette embossed with gold. Her veil of brussels net was arranged on the head with a wreath of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of daffodils and maidenhair fern. Miss Briasco, of Napier, was bridesmaid, wearing a frock of blue and cherry georgette fashioned with an ankle-length skirt. She wore a blue georgette hat turned back from the face and carried a bouquet of cornflowers and red carnations. Two little flower-girls, Marjorie Gray and Patricia Webb, were in attendance, and wore shell pink crepe de chine frocks with frilled skirts and gold lace juliet caps. They carried posies of pale pink carnations. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. David Symes. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Domain Kiosk, which was decorated with vases of daffodils and violets. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Oreti Irene, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hurfit, of Bayswater, to Ernest T. Allen, fifth son of the late Captain and Mrs. E. F. Allen, of Samoa.
