LOAN FOR SOCCER BODY

AUCKLAND TO BORROW £I,OOO SUSPENSIONS OF PLAYERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A letter from the English Football Association, which stated that it had received an application from the Auckland Football Association for a loan of £I,OOO at 5 per cent., and that it had agreed to make the loan provided that tho security was satisfactory, was received at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association this evening. A copy of the letter is to be forwarded to the Auckland Association. A letter from Otago said the cruiser Dunedin would be visiting Bluff shortly and asked permission for a match between tho ship's team and an Invercargill team. The match was approved. Otago also challenged for the Peter Dawson Cup, now held by Westland, and this was approved. The council endorsed the suspension of two Auckland players, one for two weeks and the other for four weeks, for misconduct, and drew the attention of the Auckland Association to tho action of the captain of the team in refusing to give the names to the referee. The final of the Chatham Cup competition will be played on September 16. between Petone and Westland. Tho South Auckland Association wrote stating that Huntly had been ordered to replay matches with the Young Men's Christian Association and Pukemiro, for playing a suspended player. Huntly contended that the player in question was suspended for tho rest ot' the season only, but the minutes recorded that lie was suspended until a satisfactory explanation was given. The secretary, Mr. A, Williams, produced South Auckland’s letter of August last year, which said the player was suspended until a satisfactory explanation was given. As the South Auckland Association asked for a ruling, the decision having an effect on the championship, it was decided to send a copy of their letter to the council, which left no doubt in the matter. It was agreed to ask the Auckland' Association to forward the Chatham Cup to Wellington by Mr. Harrison, Belmont, who will be coming to Palmerston North for the primary schools’ tournament, and then to Wellington for the North Island v. South Island primary schools’ match. The cup will be exhibited at Palmerston North next week.
