SANDRINGHAM TRAMS
EXTENSION TO VINCENT ROAD REQUEST MADE TO BOARD Asking that the present Sandringi ham Road tram tratk be carried as far as Vincent Road, along the Mount Albert Road, a large deputation waited on the Transport Board this morning. The speakers. Messrs. J. P. Aydori and E. Stevenson, said that it was the desire of residents of the locality that should the board bo unable to take the trams further than the top of the hill, as at present proposed,* they would rather have the terminus stop where it is. Mr. Aydon said that it would be out of all reason for the board to make one section from the present terminus to where it was at present proposed to take the trams. Further, if the existing third section were taken back to Balmoral Road to lengthen the new fourth section, such action would also be very unfair and costly to users of the route. It was urged that the third section remain where it is and that the fourth section be carried to Vincent Road. Mr. Stevenson said that if the trams were taken to Vincent Road they would pay at once, but if only to the top of the hill hardship would be imposed and the line be a loss. The chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Allum: The extension to Vincent Road would only be justified if the present feederbus service wertr taken off. Mr. Stevenson: When the trams run along the Great North Road to Avondale there will be no need for a feederbus. When the deputation had concluded its representations, Mr. Allum moved that the board seek the necessary authority to take steps for carrying ! the trams To Vincent Road, and that j the board-in-committee make a report.
