BOARD NOT CONCERNED
PROPOSED AIRPORT SCHEME
Since nearly every member of the Waitemata Power Board is a member of some local body in Auckland which has alleady expressed its view regarding the proposed commercial airport scheme, the board yesterday decided not to make an official announcement concerning its position?
A letter has been received from the Auckland City Council reporting on the conference held recently at which r^'r . Algie and the chairman, Mr. G. Trevithick, represented the board. The resolution by the 21 bodies represented favouring a first-class airport was set out.
This is a question which scarcely comes vtithin our province,” commented the chairman. It did not appear that the proposed airport site would even be within the board’s district, and would thus concern the workings but little. In reply to a request from Mr. J. Robertson, he then outlined the steps which had already been taken in this concern. No further action was authorised.
