HACK MEETING
MATAMATA REINSTATES OPEN EVENTS HURDLE RACE TOO Special to THE SUN MATAMATA. Today. The annual meeting of the Matamata Racing Club was held in the Farmers’ Hall at Matamata on Saturday evening, Mr. J. W. Anderson presiding over a fair attendance. The annual report and balance sheet was submitted and adopted. Several members expressed dissatisfaction at t.he number of outstanding subscriptions. Officers for tho season were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. C. H. Clinkard, M.P.; president, Mr. J. W Anderson; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. Johnston, @. Casey and A. Davis: committee, Messrs. J. P. White, C. C 4. Payne, W. C. Vincent, J. Downic and E. Johnston; auditor, Mr. B. C. Taylor. The caretaker was instructed to advise the secretary in future of all those who were using boxes permanently. Change in Programme Opinion was divided as to the advisability of continuing to hold an allhack fixture, and it was eventually decided to reinstate two open events and include a hack hurdle race on the programme, instead of the high-weight handicap. A resolution was carried that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that in future the caretaker attend executive meetings. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. G. Johnston for so ably acting as supervisor of the farming operations on the club’s property
