A FATAL BLOW
BISHOPS OPEN THE WAY TO RACE SUICIDE
OUTSPOKEN CRITIC British Official Wireless LONDON, Sunday. The “Sunday Express” publishes an article by the editor, Mr. James Douglas, attacking the Lambeth Conference report upon birth control and parenthood. He says: “It is strange that while ihe conference was rigidly mediaeval on the subject of divorce it should have been loose and lax on the far more dangerous problem of birth-control. It has delivered a fatal blow to marriage, motherhood and fatherhood, and has paved the way to race sui.Jde.” A British Official Wireless message from Rugby says: There have been published the reports of the committees of the Lambeth Conference, and 75 resolutions dealing with matters of doctrine and Church organisations, in relation to current social and scientific questions.. Among the subjects dealt with are: Marriage, Christian unity, the nature and status of the Anglican communion. training for Holy orders, women and the ministry, and youth and Ls vocation. The primary subject before the conference, it is explained was the urgent need in the face of many erroneous conceptions for a fresh presentation of the Christian doctrine of God. The view was taken that much of the philosophical and scientific thinking of the present day provides an atmosphere more favourable to faith than has existed for generations.
