A FOOTPLATE INCIDENT
A new driver on the Runedln-Inver-cargill run was observed recently by his fireman taking frequent “pulls” at a bottle. The fireman was in a quandary. He was loyal to the Department, but he did not want to give his comrade away. “Look here.” he said, at last. “I don’t like this.” “Don’t like it?” queried his mate, handing him the bottle. “Have a go yourself, youll like it all right.” He did. The bottle contained “Baxter’s.” Only those who have ridden in the “cab” know the sudden changes of temperatures to which drivers and filemen are subjected. Experienced men rely on Baxter’s Lung Preserver to see them through. It is the surest preventive of chills, and the best known remedy for all kinds of coughs, colds, bronchitis and chest complaints. A valuable tonic, too, helping the system to resist attack. “Baxter’s” is obtainable at all chemists and stores The new screw cap provides a perfect seal and preserves the contents. A generous-sized bottle costs 2s 6d, and the large family size 4s 6d. Many men prefer the special bachelor size at Is 6d. —2.
