AUCKLAND CLUB KEEN COMPETITION WITNESSED There was a large attendance at the meeting of the Auckland Coursing Club, held on the Otahuliu Trotting Club’s course at Mangere Crossing oa Saturday afternoon. The open and maiden stake events, uncompleted from the previous meeting. were disposed of. and provided some of the most exciting courses witnessed this season. A supplementary eight-dog stake of £5. for dogs eliminated in the first round of the maiden stake was run, and provided some good courses. The plumpton was in good condition, and the well-trained hares in the majority of courses, ran the dogs to a standstill. Very few hares were killed. The course of the day was the final of the open stake, which carried the Freeney Memorial Cup. Roth Glimpn; and Tlie Martyr ran sterling courses, and were in distress when the har© homed. The president of the club, Mr. Noonan, presented Mr. W. Sheeran, the owner of Glimpse, with the cup. Retails of the events are as follow: Open Stake (winner £ls and Freeney Memorial Cup: runner-up £7 and two dogs. £2 2s). —Final: TV. Sheeran's Glimpse beat J. and G. Smith’s The Martyr. Maiden Stake (winner £ls: runner-up £7, two dogs, £2 2s). —Second round: Lord Jaffa beat Black Rose; Blue Twi«t beat La Belle; Frisco I-ad beat Blue Pride: Tui Bells beat Tui Locks. Semi-final. —Lord Jaffa beat Bine Twist; Frisco Lad beat Tui Bells. Final.—J. Steel's Lord Jaffa beat H. Quinn's Frisco Lad. Supplementary Stake (winer £5; run-ner-up £1 10s). —First round: H. Briggs Harwin beat F. Johnson's Lady Marie; J. Young's New Zealand Son beat W. Sheeran’s Jack Booth: X. Basham’s Page Bov beat Ft. I’urdon's Sam TVeller; K. Brown’s Why Worry* beat J.
