SMOKE CONCERT HELD
HARBOUR ELECTRICIANS Members of the electrical department of the Auckland .Harbour Board held their annual smoke concert on Saturday evening. Vocal and other musical items were given. Special lighting effects arranged by members were a feature of the decorations. After tho toast to the King, Mr. Dan Jones proposed a toast to “Our Chief.” In replying, Mr. S. Edwards commented on the splendid body they were all working for, the Auckland Harbour Board. He also drew attention to the presence among the guests of Mr. Langstone, of the St. John Ambulance, comparing the speedy attention given injured workers today to that of 20 years ago. Representatives of shipping companies and of kindred departments were among the. visitors, the toast being proposed by Mr. T. McDonald, and replied to by Mr. E. W. Batey. Among the “Old Boys” to whom a toast was drunk was Mr. W. Shearer, first electrical crane-driver to the board, and Mr. Sinel, of the Power Board, who was trained with the department.
