Th®. Higher Thought Centre’s eontribution to Music Week was a full musical worship service last evening, SJJ.®f I ?®* i° Ver by Mr * T ‘ w - Silcock. Lhe temple was crowded, many people being unable to gain admission. An orchestra of 20 instrumentalists, under the baton of iVIr. Herbert Barrington, played ’’Choral” (Mendelssohn). Poet and Peasant” (Suppe), Coronach (Barratt), “Schubertiania” and Marche Militaire” (Fincke). Theso vocal numbers were contributed : Mr. Arthur Wright, “Open the Gates of the Temple” (Knapp), Miss 'J- L ?-* rc |: Mrs * v - J - Moller and Miss a trio, “Lift Thine Eyes” (Elijah): Miss Joan Laird. “Ave Maria” (Bach-Gounod), with violin obbligato by Mr. Arndt; Mrs. V. J. Moller, “O Oivine Redeemer” (Ch, Gounod); Mr. vv . A. Garrett, “Les Rameux” (Faure) and “Perfect Day” (Bond); Miss Ida Walker, “Largo” (Handel), with orchestral accompaniment; Mrs. Salisbury Sykes, “Beloved, It is Morn.” Miss Beryl Debenham contributed the violin solo, "On Wings of Song” (Mendelssohn) and Mr. Herbert Barrington an organ solo, "Prelude and r ugue in O Minor” (Bach). Mr. Silcock briefly outlined the attitude of Higher Thought to music, stating that the vibratory power of music was a creative force to be used for spiritual uplift and harmony. “There’s music in all things, if men had ears: their earth is but an echo of the spheres” (Byron).
