HOW CHURCHES TOOK F ART Special music as a part of Music Week celebrations was given in practically all city and suburban churches yesterday. Below is set out the musical services of the various churches: Anglican.—St. Mary’s Cathedral: Organ and sacred recital after evensong; special musical services (Mr. E. Randal). St. Matthews: Special services and recital of Mendelssohn’s works (Mr. Philpo't). All Saints’, Ponsonby: Special musical services, and Gounod’s “Solemn Mass”; recital, Dr. Phillips. St. Thomas’s, Union Street: Special music at services (Mr. W. D. Webber). St. Mark’s: Recital, Mendelssohn’s “Hymn of Praise,” and special musical services (Mr. Pascoe). St. Alban’s, Dominion Road: Special music at services, and organ recital (Mr. H. Wharton); fully choral evensong of works by Stainer. Holy Sepulchre: Special music, and an abridged performance of Mendelssohn’s “St. Paul.” Epiphany: Special music at services, and a recital, including Bach’s “God’s Time is Best” (Mr. John Tait). St. Paul’s: Special music at services (Dr. W. E. Thomas). St. Aidan’s: Special music (Mr. Morton). St. George’s, Epsom: Special music at services (Mr. Sutton). St. Thomas’s, iNew Lynn: Special music at services (Mr. Gillian). St. John the Baptist, Northcote: Special music at services. Holy Trinity, Devonport: Special music at services (Messrs. Kemp and Smallwood). City Mission: Special music at service (Rev. J. Calder). King’s College: Special music at services, and organ recital (Mr. Luscombe). Presbyterian.—St. James’s: Special music and anthems of modern composers (Mr. Brakenrig). Gardner Road, Epsom: Special music, and cantata, “Light Out of Darkness” (Mr. Barker). Knox Church: Special music. St. John’s Presbyterian (Papatoetoe): Special music and services (Miss Campbell). St. Stephen’s, Popsonby: Sullivan music at service, and organ recital, Guilmant, Saint-Saens (Messrs. George and Simpson). Methodist.—Pitt Street: Special music and services. Mount Albert Methodist: Special musical services (Mr. S. Dimery). Dominion Road: Special music and services (Mr. Brooks). Brown Street Methodist, Avondale: Special anthems at services (Mr. Barnes). Papakura Methodist: Special musical services and cantata. Mount Eden Methodist: Special music at services (Mr. P. Dellow). Birkenhead: Cantata, “Land of Promise” (Mr. T. C.
