PROVED HIS WORTH
The success of Warplane at Addington, where the black pacer won twice over ten furlongs, would be very gratifying to his owner. Mrs. E. I. Sweetapple, who always held a good opinion of the Man o' War gelding, despite adverse criticism of his powers in some quarters. It was at times contended that Warplane was a “quitter,” but his Southern achievements have disproved this fallacy. The writer has repeatedly suggested that the Epsom pacer would prove his real value on a dirt track, as at home he has put up some sterling essays on the clay. Addington suited him to the right degree and he has given Canterbury enthusiasts a good idea of his capabilities.
