POTATO GROWERS’ PROBLEMS
MEETING AT PUKEKOHE Special to TUB SUN PUKEKOHE. Thursday. At a meeting of produce growers at Pukekohe Hill last evening. Messrs. P. Miller, G. T. Parvin, G. Gathercole, W. McMiken and E. J. Campbell were appointed to give evidence before tlie committee of the House of Representatives which is inquiring into the marketing of fruit and vegetables. The meeting unanimously agreed that to impose grading of potatoes on growers would be a decided hardship, and that under present conditions compulsory grading would be impracticable. Representatives appointed by the meeting were asked to confer with tlie Auctioneers’ Association with a view to the abolition of the charge of 2d a bag for handling potatoes at the auction markets.
