ASSISTANCE TO FARMERS CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT Press Association WELLIXGTOX, Thursday. Sir George Elliot, Chairman of the Bank Xew Zealand, authorised a statement today in view of the discussion in Parliament regarding the Bank of Xew Zealand’s assistance to farmers. Directly and indirectly, says the statement, this assistance amounted to £10.000,000 in advances and the bank was still making such advances when required.
