WITHOUT “NERVES”
The task of riveting a plate on top of a 250 ft water tower held no terror for Mrs. Catherine Nelson, who is said to be the only woman steelwelder in the world. This is the greatest height at which she has worked, her usual business being to climb steel bridges in New Jersey and wield an electric welder. She goes aloft clad in overalls, heavy shoes and protective gloves, and in her spare time does fine embroidery. A native of Denmark, she took up millinery and dressmaking, but forsook that calling for her present, career.
