TENNIS DANCE
Manurewa Club’s Bright Social MEMBERS AND FRIENDS SPEND HAPPY EVENING A very enjoyable social evening was held by the Manurewa Tennis Club in the Parish Hall, Manurewa, on Wednesday’evening. The dance music was provided by Darby’s Orchestra, and Mr. K. Light carried out the duties of master of ceremonies. Between dances a couple of items were contributed by Mr. Norman Tate, and a playette entitled “The Last Rehearsal,’* was presented by Miss K. Grindrod as “Mrs. Caldwell”; Miss M. Grindrod, “Miss Hope”; Miss M. Webber, “Miss Bartram, Junr"; Miss J. Smith, “Eliza.” Streamer and confetti dances added gaiety to the function, and a Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss M. Finlay and Mr. H. Donaldson. Among those present were: Mrs. Russell, wearing a frock of sap phire georgette; Mrs. Bennett, who wore black georgette, with diamente trimming; Miss Queen Kimher, frocked in rkose georgette, worn ankle-length: Miss S. K. Pegler, fern green frilled georgette; Miss R. Kennerley, in an ankle-length frock of orchid pink taffeta; Miss 11. Alaxwell, in a frock of beige lace and georgette; Miss Jean Smith, mauve taffeta with silver trimmings; Miss C. Gilbertson, cerise georgette, with diamente trimmings; Miss Geisou, in leaf-green georgette; Miss Z. Pegler, imperial blue georgette; Miss J. Bryham, black velvet, with trimmings of cerise crepe de chine: Miss M. Grindrod, lettuce green velvet with diamente trimmings; Miss Gwen Booker, frocked in mary bhie frilled georgette; Miss Coombs, rose beige crepe faille, with side drapings; Miss Doris Atterbery was frocked in mauve embossed crepe de chine, with coatee to tone; Miss E. Pearce, an uneven length frock of wallflower georgette: Miss K. Grindrod, wistaria shaded crepe faille, with trimmings of silver lace: Miss Jessie Harris, pansy chiffon with scalloped skirt; Miss Stella Beaumont, cherry crepe satin, inlet with gold lame: Miss J>. Butler, frocked in crimson velvet, with silver ornament; Miss Marie Darby, prim rose riinon worn over a silver ' foundation; Miss Pearl Kimber, a pretty frock of grass green satin, relieved with gold; .Miss Finlay, forget-me-not blue georgette.
