CHAMPIONSHIPS ATTRACT BIG ENTRIES APPOINTMENT OF JUDGES Press Association WELLINGTON. Today. Ninety-three entries have been received for the New Zealand amateur boxing: championships at Palmerston North on August 21, 22, 23. This will necessitate about 84 bouts to decide the championships and 24 of these will be decided the first night. It is probable that two afternoons will also be required. The New Zealand Council has appointed Mr. Earl Stewart referee, and his assistant will be appointed by the council at the championships. The North Island judges are Messrs. Bush (Auckland), Fry (Wanganui), Heath (Napier). South Island: Messrs. Paterson (Dunedin). Tall (Invercargill) and Johnston (Ashburton).
