ABOLITION OF COMPULSION VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED FOR THE SUN'H Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Wed. The (Temporary) Amendment Rill introduced by the “Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, and read for the first time in the House today, is a very brief document, providing for the temporary suspension of compulsory military trainng and for the. authorisation of voluntary organisations for the purpose of military training by the Governor-General. While the Act is in force no person shall be obliged to undergo military training in senior cadets or in the general training section or in the territorial force. This will not prevent military training In any branch of the defence, forces of any persons who voluntarily undertake to submit themselves to such training. The Bill provides that the Governor-General may by Order-in-Council make regulations for the organisation of the training, discipline and control of any voluntary organisation or unit thereof and may approve any rules made for the purpose by *,he governing bodv of any such organisation. The Act will continue in force until August 1. 1931.
