TROUBLE WITH CHEQUES

LABOURER REMANDED On three charges of* uttering valueless cheques, Kennyth Raymond Thompson, alias Thomson, alias Keith Burke, was remanded for a week by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court today. Thompson, a labourer, aged 31, was charged with obtaining goods andtash totalling £lB from three different persons between August 2 and 9, by means of cheques drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand with intent to have them acted upon as if genuine. Senior-Sergeant Powell asked for a remand and opposed bail as accused was not known to the police. The magistrate remanded Thompson for a week.
