“CALEDONIAN” STANDS
VIEWS OVER EDEN PARK’S FENCES RIGHTS OF RATEPAYERS The erection of private stands on properties abutting on to Eden Park on the terraces side on the occasion of the British team’s matches, was discussed by the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening. The building inspector’s report stated that the stands on private property which were recently erected had now been removed. However, there were Still some structures, which had been erected for years, and were encroaching 3ft on Eden Park. “bias the Rugby Union any right to obstruct the view of the people whose properties abut on to the park?” asked Cr. J. 3r. Langley, in pointing out that a 6ft fence was a legal one. The Mayor expressed the opinion that the ratepayers could take up the issue with the owners of the park, and could apply for an injunction, though he doubted if they could get it. Tho council referred the question of private stands to the joint committee for report.
