TRANSPORT REPRESENTATION
“SYSTEM IS UNSATISFACTORY” The forthcoming election for the Auckland Transport Boat'd caused some concern at the meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening. The council considered the present method of appointing membership was a close approach to the ward system of representation. "The present system of representation on the Transport Board is most unsatisfactory," said Cr. W. H. Nagle, when a letter from the Minister of Transport was being discussed. The letter informed the council that any alteration to tire Transport Board Act must come from steps taken by a local body. Mr. Magle instanced the success of the election of members of the Power Board, which was taken over the whole district instead of being divided, as was the case with the Transport Board. Crs. \V. 11. Xagle. J. Nr. Melville and Taylor were appointed to represent the council at a conference on August 21, to consider an amendment to the Act. so that election may be taken over the whole district.
