FAST PLANES CONTROL BRITAIN’S MIMIC WAR
DIRECTIONS BY RADIO R.A.F. EXERCISES British Official Wireless Reed. 1 p.m. RUGBY, Sunday. England will experience tour days ol’mimic air war this week. The Royal Ail- Force’s annual exercises begin on Tuesday and consist Ibis year of strategical air operations between opposing forces of Redland and Bluelaud. Blueland, comprising Ibe south and west of England, is equipped chiefly with raising craft, and Redland, consisting of the north and cast of England, has an air l’orce mainly of fighters. The operations are designed to test initiative in attack and defence. Imaginary mountain ranges, vulnerable points and industrial centres have been sprinkled about the map, and communication in both countries will be conducted almost entirely by wireless. Air-Marshal Sir Edward Ellington will he the head of the directing staff. r Phe Red colony’s force, commanded by Air-Vice-Marshal Dowding, will consist of eight fighting squadrons, including two whose craft have a speed ot ISO miles an hour and five squadrons of bombers. The Blue force, commanded by AirMarslial Sir John Sleel, will comprise nine squadrons of bombers and three tighter squadrons.
