TRADERS IN MOTOR-CARS HAVE FIRST CALC SOUTH AFRICA FIXES THAT CAPETOWN, Saturday. It is reported that the Government has decided that criminal proceedings shall not be instituted after December against people who dispose of motorcars before they have completed their hire-purchase payments. It is pointed out that much of the present depression is due to the fact that people have no money except to pay instalments to motor traders, who should not have a prior claim over other creditors. It is stated that SO per cent, of the cars sold are being sold on the hire-purchase system. Ministers in recent speeches gave attention to the excessive number of motorists in comparison with incometax payers. The motor traders regard the action as a tremendous blow.
