RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION CENTRAL PROGRESS LEAGUE Tho sound development of the central area of the City and the safeguarding of tlie interests of those M'hose capital is invested in buildings and business generally in that district will be the chief concern of a new organisation known as the City Central Progress League which has just been formed. There are more than 100 foundation members.

The league proposes to serve local interests and to co-operate with other associations in movements for the welfare of the City. A big programme has been planned for this year. Ratepayers from the principal City business area have long felt the need for concerted action in questions affecting their welfare. Millions of pounds arc invested in shops and office buildings, but in the past there has been little or no attempt to organise traders and ratepayers to protect these interests.
