SUBURBAN THEATRES
The West End Theatre, Ponsonby Road, is showing “Behind That MakeUp,” a colourful stage story starring William Powell, Fay Wray and Hall Skelly, also “The Swellhead,” the comedy starring Johnny Hines. The Alexandra Theatre, Green Lane, is showing “The Melody Man,” a delightful and tuneful production of a Viennese composer in New York, starring Alice Bay, William Collier and John St. Polis. Also showing is “A Song of Kentucky,” a horse racing story starring Lois Moran and Joseph Wagstaff. The Be Luxe Theatre. Mount Albert Terminus, is showing “The Taming of the Shrew,” Shakespeare’s uproarious comedy, starring both Mary Pickford and Bouglas Fairbanks; also “South Sea Rose,” a tale of drama and romance, starring Lenore Ulric.
Bavid Butler, who directed “Sunny Side Up.” will also direct “Just “Imagine,” by Be Sylva, Brown, and Henderson. Featured in the cast in addition to Maureen O’Sullivan are John Garrick., El Brendel. Marjorie White, and Frank Albertson.
