MAJESTIC
“STREET OF CHANCE” The Majestic Theatre is offering exciting entertainment all this week with William Powell’s first starring Paramount picture, “Street of Chance.” With a plot that sweeps along at a rapid pace, a theme that is refreshingly different, a supporting cast that is excellent, and above all, with the suavemannered and smooth-voiced Powell dominating at every moment, this film lifts the emotions of tlie beholder to thrilling heights. It is a.tgle of big ci.ty gambling. The lives of those who live by their winnings at the poker tables of the metropolis are held up to the mirror ol! reality. I3ut if Powell is shown to be a sinister character in the role of ‘Natural" Dan, the biggest gambler of them all, he is nevertheless portrayed .as a kipdly. human person in tho moment when the big test comes. The climax is a breath-taking one. It has the real heart-throbbing wallop of l'eal drama. In support of the star are Jean Arthur, Kay Francis, Regis Toomey, Stanley Fields and a. number of other splendid character actors, A brilliant talkie programme is also being presented at the Majestic.
