CIVIC THEATRE

“PARAMOUNT ON PARADE” “Paramount On Parade” at the Civic Theatre is something: new and different, possesses no story continuity, but pleases immensely by the variety of its entertainment and the privilege of becoming directly associated, in a manner of speaking, with any number of Paramount stars, who, for this special occasion, are introduced more for the purpose of a little harmless fun-mak-ing rather than anything else. But it must not t>e forgotten that several ensembles, dancing numbers and graphically presented songs provide much of the spectacular. Some of this technicolour work is of the highest class, and off-sets. to the limit, the black-and-white of the ordinary sequences.

“Paramount-on Parade” gives opportunity for seeing many of the stars in semi-official roles. In other words they are shown au natural, and, for this reason, much of their work—if such it may he called—is more in the nature of delightfully intimate relaxation, permitting of considerable humour and any amount of fun.

In addition there are two or three sound gazettes and some delightful music by the Civic Concert Orchestra under the baton of Mr. Howard Moody. They play “Pique Dance (von Suppe) and a half-an-hour of music from 7.30 p.m.
