NORTH AUCKLAND DRAWS

MATCH WITH WAIRARAPA Press Association MASTERTON, Sunday. The North Auckland and Wairarapa Kugby representatives played a drawn game of 10 points each at Masterton yesterday. For three-parts of the game the visitors were in the ascendancy and must be accounted unlucky not to have won. Xorth Auckland opened at a pace that had Wairarapa badly rattled and the home team was eight points down before it asserted itself. The visitors then had the misfortune to lose McDonald through injury. It is more than probable that but for McDonald’s retirement the visitors would have greatly increased their half-time lead. Following loose play a spectacular passing movement among the North Auckland backs resulted in the first score, Wells accepting the winger’s pass and crossing well out. Kerr missed the kick. Good play by Ryan allowed Wells to time his pass well and Hanson raced over near the corner unopposed. Kerr converted. Soon afterwards Wairarapa had a narrow escape when a forward pass spoilt a certain try. A good sprint by Fuller put Wairarapa in striking distance and from a scrum Stringfellow was . able to cut through to score brilliantly. Fuller converted. At half-time the score was* Xorth Auckland 3. Wairarapa 6. Wairarapa attacked strongly cn resumption and Re Quesne’s weight carried him across. Xo goal resulted. The next score came rather sensationally, with all the Wairarapa backs out of position. Barrich had a clean run in at the corner. Kwr’s kick missed. The visitors then attacked. Morrisy picked up the ball and scored by the posts. Kerr converted. Fuller then scored from a. free kick 40yds out. Donald started a movement under the Wairarapa goal. Just outside his own twenty-five Fuller received and with a succession of bewildering swerves, passed all the opposition and finished up behind the posts. Fuller converted and made the scores all. Clever play gave Mill an opening to cross in the corner and pa*ss several opponents to touch done behind the posts. Fuller’s kick struck the upright and went outside. Practically on time a rally by the visiting forwards swept the field, M. Rika going over near the posts. Kerr’s kick failed, and the game ended 19 all. Mr. H. McKenzie was the referee.
