FALL IN CABLE REVENUE

GENERAL DEPRESSION THE CAUSE BUSINESS WIRES REDUCED For the first six months of this year the estimated traffic receipts of 'lmperial and International Communications, Ltd., have fallen by £300.426. General world depression is said to be the cause of the fall in revenue. Business cablegrams and also private messages have fallen off considerably this year. Imperial and International Communications, Ltd. now control a combination of cable services and beam wireless, so that the advent of beam wireless cannot affect the genera! receipts. The total receipts, including the West Indian companies, for the six months ended in June were £2,807,723. For the prev.ous six months the receipts totalled £3.108,149. Long-distance telephone communication, which is now operating between England and America, and England and Australia, does not come under the control of the Imperial and International Communications, Ltd., but the receipts from this source would not have any great effect on the cable service.
