WAKAKURA RETURNS
LEAVES AGAIN TODAY After carrying out a series of gunnery and minesweeping exercises. tli© Wakakura returned yesterday from a six days’ cruise in the gulf with a partv of Royal Naval Volunteer Reservists A course of practical seamanship was also given. . The vessel, which left Auckland on Sunday morning, encountered fairlv strong winds during the night A bas«> was established at Kavvau. During the succeeding five days instruction was given by Mr. T. E. Brooker. who recently arrived from England to tak© over command of the Wakakura. Two crew's from the vessel took part in a half-mile boat race at Kawau. It was a gruelling . race, the boats finishing only a few feet apart. The Wakakura came to- Queen’s Wharf this morning. After embarkincr another party of reservists, the vessel left again for the gulf early this after noon. 'The cruises will be continued nearly .every week for some time, th© vessel having one week a month in port. •
