Mrs. T. B. Inso# has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Australia. * # $ Miss Janet Lilburn, of Wanganui, who has been visiting Miss C. Hewitt, in Roto-o-r&ngi, has returned to her home. I Mrs. P. Anderson, of Blenheim, is a j visitor to Hamilton. j Miss Molly Goldingham has returned I to Palmerston North from a visit to friends in Cambridge. Mrs. J. D. Smith and Mrs. P. Pittar. of Hamilton, are paying a short visit to Gisborne. Mr. and Mrs. S. Simmons and Miss Elsie Simmons, of Hamilton, have left for Tauranga, where they will make their home. * * # FAREWELL PARTY A delightful party was given at the home of Mrs. J. D. Smith on Tuesday evening, when the members of the River Road Bridge Club met to bid farewell to Mrs. S. Simmons, before she left for Tauranga. Mrs. Smith’s big drawing-room was delightfully decorated with masses of spring bulbs. Mrs. J. D. Smith was wearing a long, graceful gown of deep biscuit georgette. Mrs. Simmons was in a black lace frock. After supper Mrs. Valder, sen., in an amusing little speech, asked Mrs. Simmons to accept from her friends present a brass bowl. Valder gave a very enjoyable party at her home, “Edinethorpe,” on Monday evening, for Miss Jean Gilfillan, the Business Queen, of St. George's Church carnival. Bridge was played in the diningroom, where marigolds, Iceland poppies and daffodils made a charming mass of colour. Mrs. Valder was wearing a gown of bronze chenille georgette. Miss Norali Valder had on an ankle-length frock of lettuce green georgette and gold lame. Miss Lilian. Valder wore a green silk net worn under a green and silver bridge coat. Air. H. Valder, Air. Bob Seal. | * CAAIBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL OLD GIRLS' DANCE | A most enjoyable dance was orj ganised by the High School Old Girls’ Club at Cambridge on Tuesday evening. The Regent Hall was delightfully decorated and all present had a very jolly time. The hostesses were Mrs. Alervyn Wells, who was in a frock of biscuit georgette; Mrs. C. Meredith, whose frock was of flowered georgette; and Airs. N. Alacky, in ivory black georgette and lace. Others present were:—Mrs. Camp-bell-Board. Mrs. Anderson, Airs. Freeman, Airs. Watson, Miss D. KING COUNTRY JOTTINGS A “woolshed dance,” held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. Dempsey, junr., Kaitieke, achieved its object of raising a further creditable sum toward the cost of the Retaruke Public Han. At a social gathering in the Presbyterian Church, Taumarunui, Miss R. Stevenson was the guest of honour. The Rev. C. Brierly presided and on behalf of those present congratulated Miss Stevenson on her approaching marriage and asked her to accept a presentation of silverware. Mr. R. Stevenson responded on behalf of his laughter. m + * A delightful children’s fancy dress ance held in the Tokirima Hall attracted widespread patronage. Old and new dances were on the programme, the little ones being trained by Mrs. Reeve and Miss Jones. Air. and Mrs. jl. Thompson provided the music.
