MORRINSVILLE NOTES
Thirteen degrees of frost were recorded in Morrinsville yesterday morning. This is the heaviest frost recorded this winter. • * m It is seldom that a referee has to blow his whistle owing to injuries to him self, but in the women’s hockey match between Te Aroha and Morrinsville, Mr. J. M. Thompson was struck on the forearm by the ball and was out of action for several minutes. • * • The rainfall at Morrinsville during July totalled 3.66 inches, th© heaviest fall being 2.06 inches for the 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. on July 6. • * * A fine specimen of cyclamen with 17 flower heads is to be seen at Mr. T. B. Topps’s premises, Thames Street. Flower lovers say this is an exceptional number of blooms for a cyclamen to bear. * * * Several Morrinsville farmers had difficulty In working their milking machines on Wednesday morning owing to the intense cold. Ice formed under the pulsators and the pumps blocked and had to be freed with hot water. * «» $ The total cheese manufactured by th© Tatua Dairy Company during the season, was 962 tons, compared with 928 tons for the 1928-1929 season, states the 16th annual report, to be placed before suppliers at the annual meeting on August 13 The company paying out a Id bonus, totalling £3.400. on all butter-fat supplied last season This will bring the rate of payment up to Is 7d, w-ith a further payment to be made later.
