TAURANGA NOTES
For the purpose of forming a rock garden at tlie Tauranga Hospital, a working bee was held. The chairman of the Hospital Board. Mr. T. Lochhead. and the Mayor. Mr. A. C Robbins. each laid a corner stone. Good work was done by the workers under the guidance of Mr. R. R. Randel. The garden is in front of the main entrance, and is a great improvement to the grounds. The annual social of the Fire Brigade was held this week, there being over 100 present. Te Puke and Whakatane Brigades were represented. The Mayor, Mr. B. C. Rqbbins. presided and was supported by Superintendent Padlie, and members of the Fire Board. A lengthy programme of toasts, songs and stories was much enjoyed The chairman presented the prize.which had been won during the year in competitions. Firemen F. Bickers and Griffin were presented with tliree-yeai service certificates, and the following with additional two-year bars:—Superintendent Padlie, Firemen P. Kingdon. G. Monk. Downev, H. Brickers W. Pad lip. IT Harnett. A presentation oi n handsome sa!a*. bowJ was made to Superintendent Padlie as a memento of liis 21 years service with the brigade.
