DANGEROUS CORNER
BIRKENHEAD DISPUTE BANK OBSTRUCTS VISION The view at the dangerous corner where Pupuke Road joins the main highway north from Brikenhead is to be improved shortly. When the Birkenhead Borough Council came into office it was determined to effect some improvement. The boundary between the borough and the Waitemata County Council runs along the centre of Pupuke Road, which joins the main road in a deep cutting. Xeitlfer road is wide and jb© view is limited to a few yards. The borough council bought land on the corner within its control, and will cut back the steep bank to give better* vision. The Waitemata County, however, stated in a letter received by the borough council last evening that funds were not available for the come.* inside its boundary to be cut back also.
Legal action may be taken by the Birkenhead Borough to compel the county either to cut back its own corner or to contribute to the cost of tho work the borough is prepared to do. It is pointed out that the wor’; would be of mutual benefit.
