PIMENTEL SENT FOR TRIAL SIX CHARGES OF FRAUD Press A.ssocia:ion WELLINGTON. Today. Norton Parker Pimentel, the defendant in the recent civil action, appeared before a magistrate, Mr. E. Page, S.M., yesterday, on six charges of obtaining money by means of false pretences. The total sum alleged to have been obtained was £1,625. The evidence was mainly a repitition of that in the other proceedings. A receipt cash book showed that altogether £3,085 odd had been received by Pimentel. His bank accounts showed £ 3,006. was given that the local oils bought were second grades. The agent for the Standard Oil Companysaid the oil which was still to come from America direct was 7.726 gallon.-, mostly of motor oil. It was to be branded “Mecca” and Pimentel had paid a deposit of £SO. The whole shipment had arrived in port that day. . At the conclusion of the evidence Pimentel pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. On the question of bail Detective-Sergeant Holmes said he would like it made substantial, as accused was regarded as a man who would get away if he could. Bail was renewed in accused’s own bond of £I,OOO and one surety of £I,OOO. or two of £SOO each.
